Australian Unity appointed Avenor Development Services to provide its holistic suite of services for the $1.1 billion Herston Quarter project from inception through master planning, contractor procurement and delivery. Avenor helped Australian Unity, Australia’s largest independent healthcare landlord, bring Herston Quarter to life as an exemplar health and innovation destination.
The project shows the breadth of Avenor’s skillset across 9 different asset classes. As a true mixed-use precinct, development will deliver health, education and biomedical facilities, residential and student accommodation, commercial, child-care, retail and food and beverage services and major car park operation.
The $340m public health facility was the first building completed in 2020, being the Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS) building, to provide specialist care for rehabilitation, elective surgery, endoscopy and outpatient services.
Avenor worked creatively to unlock the value of a precinct of heritage buildings to accommodate many of the required uses.
